Welcome to Scholarship Programs

The Braintree Council 1462 has two scholarship programs available to students

1.) Braintree Knights 1462 Foundation, Inc. College Scholarship

  • The Scholarship
    • The Foundation will allocate up to one-third of its required annual distributions to fund the scholarship program.
    • The dollar value of each scholarship shall be no less than $2,000.00 nor more than $5,000.00. The number of scholarships to be awarded each year is dependent on the total funds allocated and the committee’s evaluation of the applications submitted. 
    • Foundation scholarships are intended to provide financial support for post-secondary school education. This includes both two and four-year colleges.
      • The applicant must be accepted into a college that is accredited by a recognized accreditation authority.
    • Consideration will be given to applicants enrolling in specialized training programs that are not customarily included in standard college curricula.
      • Program literature must be submitted as part of the application package for the selection committee to use in its evaluation.
    • Applications must be received no later than April 1st. They will be read and voted on by the foundation’s scholarship committee and the awards will be announced no later than April 20th.
    • Evaluation of each application will take into consideration:
      • Academic record
      • School, church and community activities
  • The Sponsoring Knight
    • Must be a member of Braintree Council 1462 in good standing.
    • Must be a 3rd Degree Knight and have been a 3rd degree for at least one year as of April 1st of the current year.
    • Children and grandchildren of a deceased member are eligible so long as the above two requirements were met at the time of death.
  • The Applicant
    • Child or grandchild of the sponsor.
    • Be a practicing Catholic.
  • Application Package
    • Foundation scholarship application.
    • Transcript of current grades.
    • Copy of SAT and/or ACT scores.
    • Short essay (no more than 250 words) identifying the applicant’s intended course of study and goals for the future.
    • Letter of recommendation from the applicant’s secondary school.
    • Optional: letters of recommendation from third parties: local parish office, neighbor, employer, athletic coach, coordinator for volunteer activities, etc.
    • Mailed in time to be received no later than April 1st.

This application for a scholarship must be presented for consideration by a member in good standing of the Braintree Council 1462 Knights of Columbus. The member must be a 3rd Degree Knight for at least one year as of April 1st of the year of the application.  The proposed recipient must meet the relationship criteria to the sponsoring Knight and be a practicing Catholic.

The following documents must accompany the application:

Current transcript of grades and class standing, letter of recommendation from your school/teacher, copy of your SAT and/or ACT test scores, and a brief 250-word essay highlighting your intended course of study and future goals.

Optional additional documents:

Letters from your pastor, employer(s), athletic coaches, neighbors.

2.) Antonio J. Quintiliani College Scholarship

  • The Scholarship
    • The scholarship is paid from the interest earnings from a $20,000.00 donation to the Council as a memorial to Antonio J. Quintiliani.
    • The dollar value of the scholarship shall not exceed $1,000.00. The timing for the award is dependent on the total interest earnings paid on the donation.   The principal balance of the donation should never go below $20,000.
    • The scholarship is intended to provide financial support for post-secondary school education. This includes both two and four-year colleges.
    • Applications must be received no later than April 1st. They will be read and voted on by the Council’s scholarship committee and the awards will be announced no later than April 20th.
    • Evaluation of each application will take into consideration:
      • Academic record and test scores
      • School and teacher recommendations
